Bat’s Day always brought a little darkness over the happiest place on earth, but after 20 years finally calls it quits over financial issues.
It is extremely sad to say that the gothic themed Bat’s Days at the Disneyland Resort will be coming to an end in 2018. From an official press release it seems that due to financial hardship, Bat’s Day will be ending.
Due to the new 2018 tax plan, the struggling economy and ever-rising costs, we can no longer run Bats Day in the Fun Park on the grand scale that it has had for the past 15 years. What most people don’t realize is that Bats Day is a labor of love; we don’t make money on it. Bats Day has never had any corporate funding or sponsorship, either: It is an event we do for the community. It is something our crew donates varying amounts of time and energy toward without seeing any kind of pay or profit from it.
Honestly, this is extremely political as well as confusing. Ending a 20-year event over a group photo? To me, it seems as if having the “community” donate to the photo to cover costs would be the best alternative to closing the event. This whole thing is a bit of head-scratcher but the PDF press release makes it seem like he just wants to spend time with his family.
