Just a taste of what Eastshade will offer and man am I ready to explore the full world!
First off, Leaving Lyndow is supplemental to the world of Eastshade. The main intention of this game is to raise some money to complete the larger project without having to use crowdfunding as the main source of income. With that out of the way, we are given basically the Prologue of Eastshade and what the game will have to offer, and boy does it have a lot to offer!
Capturing the beauty of this game is hard to leave in one category. The story and the graphics give you an escape into a gorgeous world. Players will take control of Clara, a resident of Lyndow. This will be her final day with her friends, family and the countryside she grew up on all to give it up pursuing her passion! She’s graduated and fulfilled her childhood dream of joining the Guild of Maritime Exploration. Now she must say her goodbye’s and explore her town one last time, before leaving for Eastshade!
You will explore the world in first person view. What better way to explore what the world has to offer! Movement and commands are simple as items will glow that can be interacted with and most of the world contains its environments to ensure you are searching in all the right places. I use searching because you will be traveling through your town going through old experiences. This could be simply talking to an old friend, or engaging in a mini game to further progress the story! This could be best described as a short and sweet walking simulator.
The first thing you will notice while loading the game up is the vibrant colors and beauty of the world. As the brown towns bring a sense of familiarity, looking out the window only reveals a truly beautiful world. The graphics are well thought out as well as play key pieces to the story. The clarity of objects, as well as the awe-inspiring landscapes, seem to bring the world alive with backstory and depth. Sometimes the long range rendering looks a bit blocky but the does not kill the immersion as you investigate the environments around you! Try the different Tea offerings to see the world in different shades!
Players will thoroughly enjoy nature as they hear the birds chirping and the calming background music that accompanies you while you discover everything this game has to offer. The musical selection fits the tone and only adds to the immersion. Another great addition is how crisp the sound effects sound, from opening a cupboard to marbles smacking into one another! It really brings the whole world together with how detailed everything really is!
When you finally reach the end, you feel like you did not get enough time to explore the world but at the same time, explored everything you possibly could. It is a weird feeling but reminds you of what is yet to come! You can either blaze through this game and really get nothing much out of it, or you can take your time and enjoy the world around you. This is your final day in town, so why not spend it with all your loved ones!
In conclusion, the game is beautiful but short! 45 minutes to one hour of playtime is what you can expect from this game! With a price tag of $3.99, this is actually not a bad buy for the price! The breathtaking views, as well as the curious surroundings you will explore, are very inspiring throughout this brief experience. I say check out the game now and support the developer so we can get the final product!
